What an absolutely stunning bit of kit.
Everything about it speaks volumes for the care and time put into it; the stitching is delightful, everything works as it should, it folds and packs neatly. The fabric isn't lightweight, but it should be, as cotton needs some body behind it to keep the weather out as this does.
Alas, I've not been in a downpour yet, but it certainly keeps the coldest winds out, and the snow skirt works well with leaf litter on to keep a nice toasty seal around the bottom.
There are internal loops under the quick tension straps which I'll use for a home made bathtub ground sheet in waxed cotton- I wasn't expecting these.
A touch of tuning needed when pitching it, much like any round/hex shaped tents new to the owner, but once up its strong, quiet, warm, and plenty big enough for me (1.8 m and extra wide!) it's plenty big enough for me to sit up in, get changed in, and generally wiggle about. My Polish army poncho tent is a similar design, but not as spacious and no where near as well finished.
I can't recommend this enough. I'd love to own the 2 p tent as well, but I'll experiment with more waxed cotton to make some doors to close in the tent for use without a little stove so my wife can join me in there in summer.
If you're unsure whether you can justify the price as I was, consider the quiet fabric, the lifetime quality, and the unique beautiful form - I haven't found anything close to this. It really is the epitome of trad style bushcraft/ outdoor shelter for one. Even the Tschum logo is asthetically pleasing! - Product:
