Note on tents made from our lightweight 180 g/sqm cotton fabric:
We regret to inform you that our supplier in the neighbouring country has closed down the production site where our lightweight Tschum cotton fabric was manufactured. Unfortunately, this quality of fabric no longer appears to be available.
This means that sold out lightweight tents will no longer be available - in this case, please opt for our Tschum tents made from the equally excellent 300 g/sqm cotton.
Fortunately, for some models we can still offer you a few lightweight tents from our stock - so get them while they are still in stock.
The Tschum 2P Light TAS is the 1P Light KAMA`s big brother.
The 2P Light TAS is also made from 180 g/sqm cotton fabric, which is exclusively produced for Tschum in nutbrown colour. It is equipped with snowflaps made from 85 g/sqm Nylon tent floor material with PU coating. All buckles and fasteners are made from black coated aircraft grade alloy. The webbings and lines are manufactured in Germany from polyamide (Nylon).
Weighing in at ~1900 g (including pack sack, excluding pole and stakes), the tent is capable of withstanding very high winds and heavy rain.
The Tschum 2P Light TAS is a fast, extremely durable and relyable basic shelter against wind and weather for a two hikers.
To erect the Tschum 2P Light TAS, you need 6 pegs and a pole of at least 180 cm length, which can be our telescopic Tschum Aluminium Tent Pole (P), or simply a branch. As an alternative, the tent can be hung from a tree by its sturdy top loop. The maximum recommended pole length is ~ 195 cm, which generates seated on a camping stool more headroom and better views. (195 cm is a 240 cm Aluminium Tent Pole without the lowest segment.)
That lifts some of the the snowflaps' contact surface on the on the ground, but the flaps will still be useable and do their job.
On the inside, there is a loop with an aluminium carabiner to hang up gear like a lamp or a mosquito net.
Behind and besides the sleepers, there is lots of space for gear or rucksacks. Stuff that is placed on the other side near the pole will stay dry too, due to the overhang.
The use of open fire and woodstoves near the tent is possible, because the pure cotton material is relatively resiliant to heat. The height of the entrance is a compromise of keeping the weather out, providing comfort and a good view when sitting, and user-friendlyness while entering the tent.
To protect oneself and your stuff from ground moisture and muck, the Tschum 2P Light TAS can be outfitted with a matching half 4P tent floor. As the floor is made as a flat piece, and it is connected with elastics to five aluminium cliphooks inside the tent, it will float slightly above ground when unloaded. In practice, that is an easy way to keep water from running onto and small things from rolling off the floor.
