The Tschum 1p light KAMA is made from 180g cotton fabric, that is exclusively produced for Tschum in nutbrown colour. It is equipped with snowflaps made from 85g/sqm Nylon tent floor material with PU coating. All buckles and fasteners are made from black coated aircraft grade alloy. The webbings and lines are manufactured from polyamide (Nylon).
Weighing in at ~1290g (excluding pole and stakes), which is 810g less then the standard version of this tent, the tent is capable of withstanding very high winds and heavy rain.
The Tschum 1P light KAMA is a fast, extremely durable and relyable basic shelter against wind and weather for a single hiker, even in small spots.
To erect the Tschum 1P light KAMA, you need six pegs and a pole of at least 140cm length, which can be our telescopic Tschum aluminium pole, or simply a trekkingpole or a branch. As an alternative, the tent can be hung from a tree by its sturdy top loop. On the inside, there is a loop with an aluminium carabiner to hang gears like a lamp or a mosquito netting.
Behind the sleeper, there is a huge triangular space for gears, a rucksack and even a small to mid sized dog. Stuff that is placed on the other side near the pole will stay dry too, due to the overhang.
Very tall persons (195cm+) can use a pole that is up to 150cm long, which dramatically increases the length of the sleeping area and the headroom. That compromises some of the the snowflaps width that will lay flat on the ground, but the flaps will still be useable and do their job.
The use of open fire and woodstoves near the tent is possible, because the pure cotton material is relatively resiliant to heat. The height of the entrance is a compromise of keeping the weather out, providing a good view when sitting, and comfort while entering the tent.
To protect against ground moisture, the Tschum 1P light KAMA can be outfitted with a matching 1p poncho-floor. As the floor is made as a flat piece, and it is connected with elastics to five aluminium cliphooks inside the tent, it will float slightly above ground when unloaded. In practice, that is an easy way to keep water from running onto- and small things from rolling off the floor.
Pole and pegs are not included.
